French 18th century. A walnut and leather inset bureau plat, the rectangular top having a three-quarter molded lip and inset with conforming brown leather top over a pair of frieze drawers, each having individual locking mechanisms and raised on a tall, slender cabriole legs. Each drawer having writing to the underside, possibly 'Vendome' and 'L'atelier'. Approximate height 28.3", width 51", depth 26.75".
Bureau plat is structurally sound. Small burn mark with minor surface scratches to leather top. Locks & escutcheons have been replaced. Interior drawer bases show separation (see image 10). Legs have scattered areas of repairs with patches/replaced wood. Scattered nicks commensurate with age and usage.
