- Lot Description
French School, late 18th/ early 19th century. "A Distinguished Gentleman and His Son", oil on canvas, unsigned. Painting depicts a gentleman and his young son in fine dress, the father wearing a long coat of fine woven purple silk with wide folded cuffs with golden buttons, a white ruffled sleeve shirt, and a white neck scarf, and the son wearing a blue wide cuffed coat with red under vest and white ruffled shirt. The boy is presenting a small bouquet of white and red wildflowers to his father's opened hands. Framed 42.5" x 30". Unframed 49" x 38".
