French, 18th century. Louis XVI fruitwood commode having rectangular twin board top over a case with two long drawers and paneled sides, raised on square tapered legs. Approximate height 35", width 45.6", depth 19.5".
Surface bowing and separating from base, more prevalent at right. Abrasions, chips, nicks and surface scratches throughout. Both drawers' bases with warping and some separating of panels due to shrinkage. Both drawer interiors reinforced at back with newer, thin wood boards. Splitting at seams on face of drawers. Hardware and locks replaced. Newer wood repair to interior of drawers where original locks would have been.
