French, 18th century. French Louis XV style giltwood settee or canape with rococo shaped carved molded crest rail centered with foliage and continuing to leafy downward sloping sides with scrolled padded arms, sides, back and seat, over a serpentine shaped and foliate carved apron raised on 8 cabriole legs terminating in scrolled toes. Height 41.5", width 81", seat depth 26", seat height 16".
Structurally sound. Some separation at joints with traces of glue and wood fill. Legs repaired; probably strengthened. Wear to gilt. Scattered nicks & chips, all commensurate with age. Fabric upholstery in very good condition with no rips, stains or tears.
