French, late 19th century. French Louis XV style caned bergere or armchair with shell cresting over caned back to scrolled and foliate carved arms over a serpentine seat with removable seat cushion and inset with caning above a conforming seat carved with shell and scrolling foliage raised on cabriole legs carved and knee and terminating in scrolled toes. Height 34.75", width 24.5" (arm to arm), seat depth 18.5", seat height 17".
Caning is in great condition. Chair has slight wobble, but is structurally sound. Some separation or loosening to joints, commensurate with age. Nice warm patina. Cushion is in overall good condition, with no rips, stairs, or odor.
