French, 19th century. Highly carved polychrome and giltwood trumeau mirror in Rococo style with shaped frame decorated with pink roses, C scrolls, shells, and lattice work surrounding vertically aligned mirror or looking glass below a figural oil on canvas scene at top with figures in a garden--seated young woman playing with small dog, man and woman standing beside her. Approximate height 68.75", width 35.25", depth 2.75".
Overall good condition. Scattered chips & areas of gilt loss, commensurate with age. Minor scattered chips to roses, however, not distracting. Areas of vertical separation to wood (see image 8). Mirror has been replaced. Figural scene at top is on canvas that has been laid down on board. Oil on canvas has not been examined under black light.
