French, early 20th century. A baluster form diminutive vase on round foot with narrow neck and flared mouth, the body decorated with finely hand painted enamel scene on tondo depicting a young beauty in a landscape holding a flower basket, the scene continuing to back of body with a hazy city view across water. Signed to side "Gamet France". Approximate height 6.625". Provenance: From the Estate of Mary L. Haugk, Lawrenceville, Georgia.
Vase with glazing imperfections on tondo to foot above metal cap. Spiderweb fracture of enamel and glaze to backside of vase, approximately 1.125" tall x 1.5" wide. Horizontal crack in enamel across figure's chest, vertical crack in enamel to left of figure, and curving crack above bouquet in right hand. Other minor cracks or fractures scattered throughout, none overly distracting aside from the large flaw to back of piece. Under black light examination, no apparent repairs.
