American, fourth quarter 20th century. A complete collection of Franklin Mint silver medals or coins, "The Genius of Michelangelo" circa 1975, complete with 60 coins in a burgundy leather bound volume of fitted pages with gilt script beside each coin detailing the title of Michelangelo's piece of artwork that is represented on the coin as well a physical location of that piece of art. Represented artworks include The Sistine Chapel ceiling and walls, pieces in the Uffizi Gallery, Bargello National Museum, The Louvre, the Sienna Cathedral, and others. A page at front of volume provides a brief biography of Michelangelo Buonarroti Simoni. Book measures approximately 14.75" tall x 11.75" wide x 2.75" thick, each coin weighing approximately 1.3 troy ounces for a total weight of 78 troy ounces. Accompanied by a separate matching bound volume including lengthy descriptions of each artwork represented on a coin as well as pictorial references for their placement.
