Francisco José de Goya y Lucientes (Spanish, 1746-1828), "Tristes presentimientos de lo que ha de acontecer (Sad Forebodings of What Must Come" (Plate 1) from Los Desastres de la Guerra (The Disasters of War) series, etching, engraving, aquatint and drypoint print on laid paper, unsigned. Work depicting a man on his knees with arms spread begging for mercy against dark landscape. Framed approximately 11.5" x 13.5". Sheet size approximately 10.8" x 12.75". Provenance: From the Collection of Gene and Jo Novy, Atlanta, Georgia.
Condition
Examined out of the frame. Page with overall toning and minor foxing. Mat burn present. Each edge slightly ruffled due to general handling. No apparent pin holes, adhesive residue, tears, or losses. No watermark.
