Large framed American Civil War archive containing a Camp Cooper, Georgia special order for Confederate States of America soldier Captain Frederick Davis Wimberly, 6th Regiment, Georgia Infantry (American, 1840-1893), a letter to Wimberly from First Lieutenant George R. Glover (6th Regiment, Georgia Infantry) dated January 7, 1863, a letter and envelope to Isolene (Isoline) Minter Wimberly, from Major NC Clarke, Quartermaster General's Office, thanking her and her friends for their gift of socks, dated November 8th, 1864, reproduction documents related to Captain Wimberly, and replica flag for the 6th Regiment, Georgia Infantry noting battles where they fought. Wimberlys serving in the 6th Regiment, Georgia Infantry and both from Twiggs county, Georgia: Frederick D. Wimberly enlisted May 27, 1861 as a Second Lieutenant, promoted First Lieutenant June 10, 1862, Captain July 1, 1862, and killed at Sharpsburg, Maryland, September 17, 1862; Fred D. Wimberly (American, 1840-1893) enlisted as a Private June 15. 1861, promoted to Captain after the Battle of Sharpsburg where he was wounded, and resigned his commission serving out the remainder of the Civil War as a Quartermaster Sergeant in Macon, Georgia, though the 6th Georgia carried his name on their rolls as a Commissary Sergeant as a mark of respect.
