French, second half 19th century. A fine porcelain hand painted dessert service decorated with impressed, dense pink and white flowers, scrolling rococo parcel gilt borders and hand painted exotic flowers and roses, comprising a lidded tea pot, handled covered sugar, creamer, three compotes, one oval serving dish, one square serving dish, five tea cups, seven coffee cups, twelve fruit bowls, six 8.5" plates, two 9" plates and one 8" shallow bowl. None of the plates have a makers mark. The three compotes are marked in red underglaze "14" and are approximately 2.37 in height, diameter 8.75". The approximate height of the square serving dish is 1.75",width 10.5", depth 9"and marked "4632". The approximate height of the oval serving dish 1.62", width 11", diameter 9". The approximate height of the tea pot is 7". The approximate height of creamer 5.5". The approximate height of the sugar 6.5" and marked "4632". The approximate height of fruit bowls 1.12", diameter 5.75". Fruit bowls are marked "4632". The approximate height of the tea cups 2", diameter 3.5" The approximate height of the coffee cups 2.75", diameter 3.25". Some of the tea and coffee cups are marked "4632".
Numerous pieces with crazing, scattered hairlines and fractures. Most appear to be old, under the glaze and stable observed with a loop however some fractures have allowed for moisture under the glaze and caused areas of yellowing and discoloration. Many pieces with very old repairs not responding to blacklight but observed with a loop. Creamer with hair line to interior spout and sides responding to blacklight. Finial on sugar with early repair. Tea pot with old staple repairs to underside of foot. 3 tea cups with glue repair to handles. 2 plates with chips to edges. Scattered paint and gilt loss commensurate with age and usage.
