Italian, late 18th century. A fine Neoclassical creme peinte and parcel gilt decorated console table having a rectangular white marble top over a paneled frieze centered with gilt female mask flanked by Apollo and Mercury masks raised on unusual turned, tapered and triple sided deeply fluted front legs decorated with a carved gilt arrow headed with Mercury and centered with Apollo mask, the back legs similarly carved with single arrow and masks. Approximate height 29.75", width 32.12", depth 15.6".
Structurally sound. Overall very good condition. Screws replaced in blocks under marble to support. Prior worming damage, not significant. Painted surface with touch ups not distracting but reacting to ultravoilet light. Chipping to finish particularly noted on edge of legs; front right leg with sliver. Marble top is later.
