• Lot Description
  Asian, 19th century possibly earlier. A fine and large bronze standing Guanyin Bodhisattva figure in frontal aspect, the figure standing in full length on a lotus pedestal wearing ornate skirt and headdress and holding a two handed mudra in front of her waist, each hand with middle and ring fingers curled downward with the middle fingertip touching thumb tip and pinkie and fore fingers curled upward (possibly the sukhathundam mudra), the figure standing before an pierced arched full length cowl adorned with a band of scrolling flames over elephant masks and surrounding inner bands of beading and geometric patterning, surmounted by a suspended disk over the buddha's head, altogether to an integral square stepped plinth base on a later conforming veneered block pedestal. Overall approximate height 68", sculpture height 52.5", width 17.25", depth 12.5".
