Attributed to Oscar Bach (German/American,1884 -1957). Circa 1910. A fine gilt bronze and wrought iron upholstered window bench having an open back with upholstered armrests to each side on spiral turned supports centered by a figural openwork panel featuring a mythological faun enclosing the rectangular padded and upholstered in salmon velvet over an apron decorated with stylized gilt bronze egg and dart raised on decorative shaped legs joined by and openwork panel decorated with stylized motif and having an hammered stretcher base. The underside of the iron seat frame stamped 'Bethlehem'. One symbol the faun is holding has impressed number '058'. The ring around the other faun has impressed number '049'. Approximate height 27.5", width 55", seat depth 16", seat height 18.5". Note: A very similar Oscar Bach bench sold April 14, 2012 for $28.000 at Kamelot Auctions, lot 368. A bronze and iron console table with the matching openwork faun and stylized motif panels was sold on December 10, 2015 at Auctionata, New York, Lot 29, for $2800.00.
