English, circa 1870. A fine Renaissance Revival style walnut and burl mirrored vanity, the superstructure centered with arched and paneled swinging frame housing the rectangular beveled mirror plate joined to each side by fluted and downswept supports decorated with raised fan shaped motif over a pair of short drawers flanked to each side by foliate wrapped pilasters, the case with drop center over a single long drawer and recessed kneehole flanked to each side by four graduated drawers having stylized brass pulls arranged between foliate wrapped fluted pilasters on plinth base. Approximate height 73.5", width 61.75", depth 24.5".
Structurally sound. Hinges to mirror replaced. Scattered areas of chips, scratches, abrasions as would be expected with age and usage. Moisture stain to top right. Pulls are not original to piece. One lock missing left side. No keys present. Some drawers with missing blocks, replaced runners. There are vertical cracks, shrinkage on both banks as well as back side of banks ( see image #2). Some chipping and wear to finish along with base and pilasters commensurate with age and contact. Finish is refreshed and glossy.
