• Lot Description
  English, circa 1870 - 1910. A fine Aesthetic Movement bamboo and lacquered etagere or dressing cabinet having an openwork pediment above a beveled glass door flanked by a small shelf to each side, the lower section with rectangular top over a pair of frieze drawers and two small paneled doors centering an open niche above and rectangular undershelf over a paneled door centered by a arched open shelf to either side. The whole decorated with floral embossed panels on red ground and lacquered panels of birds and foliage. Approximate height 70", width 28.25", depth 14.25". Note: A similar bamboo cabinet with lacquer panels and embossed paper by Jean Baptiste Kohn is at the Victoria and Albert Museum, London.
