Chinese export, 19th century Qing Dynasty (1644-1912). A finely painted large and impressive center bowl or punch bowl decorated in the English tradition on tondo with a hunt scene depicting many riders on horseback surrounded and accompanied by spotted hounds and set in a vast hilly landscape with red brick architecture, trees, and shrubbery, the round foot and the interior rim with a band of inverted gilt fleur-de-lis outlined in red, the interior medallion with a single horse on rider jumping through a landscape. Unmarked. Approximate diameter 15.875", height 6.125".
Wear to gilt elements throughout. Two thin hairline cracks running down bowl basin. Significant wear to enamel decoration on interior of bowl, light wear to border on interior. Dark circular grime on interior--would benefit from professional cleaning. Exterior scenes with a few small areas of retouches. Rim with some professional repairs visible under black light. Wear to bottom of foot commensurate with age. No other signs of damage, loss or repair.
