American, probably Kentucky, circa 1800s. Fine American (southern states) Federal cherry with yellow pine secondary chest of drawers with two short over four graduated long drawers, all drawers beaded and decorated with bellflower and line stringing, probably maple, with scalloped apron and "French" bracket feet. Approximate height 47", width 40.75", depth 21". Provenance: From the Estate of Sam & Florence Inman, Atlanta, Georgia.
Structurally sound. Twin board top with some scratches, staining, circular burns and a couple of small minor repairs/patches. Small losses to beading on the drawers. All brasses replaced, one lock missing. Most drawers with replaced runners and newer blocks. Bottom board has been sanded down. There is shrinkage to both sides of case with vertical cracks running with the grain. There is some cracking and missing veneer on decorative scrolled apron.
