• Lot Description
  Continental (likely French), late 19th century. A heavy pewter lidded soup tureen with round underplate and relief decoration, the large round dished underplate with band of twisted gadroons alternating with floral clusters and surrounding a central fleur-de-lis medallion with ribbon bow support at top, with rose and flower garland to wide rim, with round tureen bearing conforming gadroon and garland motif and two pierced harp form drop handles at shoulder, the round lid with domed center bearing pinecone finial over ring of leaf tips over undulating form spreading onto flattened rim decorated with rose clusters in relief and a band of incised gadroons to rim, with medallion to front of lid bearing fleur-de-lis within an oval supported by ribbon bow at top. Overall approximate height 10.75", diameter of saucer 15.25".
