Hand crafted, salt glazed stoneware five gallon crock with cylindrical body above turned rim, rounded handles on upper sides, stamped and accented in cobalt blue highlighting with "F.B. NORTON & CO" above "WORCESTER, MASS" above "5" for storage capacity. Large crock further decorated with perched feathered bird flanked by two crossed stylized leafy plant fronds. Overall approximate height 12", diameter of opening at top 12.125". From the Estate of Dr. Woody Cobbs and Mrs. Honor Cobbs, Atlanta, Georgia.
Overall with scattered glazing imperfections, with dirt and grime throughout (would benefit from light cleaning). Wear to rim resulting in glazing loss commensurate with contact. Minor chips and nicks throughout, not distracting and commensurate with age and use. Reverse with small circular loss, with approximate diameter of 0.5". Interior with grim and discoloration, possibly from water exposure, would benefit from cleaning. Underside with losses to rim commensurate with contact.
