Giovanni Battista Piranesi (Italian, 1720-1778). "Rovine del Sisto, o sia della gran sala delle terme Antoniniane", etching with engraving on paper from "Vedute di Roma" originally published in the mid 18th century, blind stamp lower right for "Regio Calcografia" edition published in Rome circa 1870-1945. A black and white engraving depicting architectural ruins with figures throughout. Framed approximately 24.25" x 32.75", sight size approximately 16.5" x 25.5". Sheet size approximately 19.125" x 29.125".
Etching on paper laid down on illustration board. Illustration board joined to mat with hinging tape on back. Some visible remnants of adhesive to front of print from previous mounting to mat board. Light even toning to sheet. Scattered minor foxing. Light scattered abrasions, not particularly distracting. Sheet appears to have been cut down (see sizes in description).
