English, four quarter 19th century. Late Victorian walnut mirrored kneehole dressing table or vanity having a superstructure with split swan neck pediment over a rectangular and scrolling foliate paneled swinging frame housing the arched beveled mirror plate joined to each side by scroll headed graduated tiers surmounted with urn finial and resting on a glove drawer at the bottom with a mirrored back, the case with drop center over a bowfront drawer and recessed kneehole flanked to each side by a bank of four graduated drawers, all having burl veneer faces and individual locking mechanisms, resting on a conforming plinth base. Approximate height 76", width 54", depth 23.5".
Structurally sound. Superstructure missing central finial and having shrinkage with horizontal cracks to the foliate panel above mirror. All mirrors with scattered oxidized silver. Top of the vanity and both banks with numerous areas of finish loss and damage, possible moisture issue. Left plinth with wood loss.
