English, second half of 19th century. An English Victorian interpretation of an 18th century Georgian mahogany secretary desk comprising an upper case with two glass doors with mullioned Chinese Chippendale style fretwork opening to case interior with mirrored backboard, scalloped shelves, and two small drawers with round brass pulls, one at left and one at right, the lower case comprising a slightly slanted writing surface surmounting a pull out work surface with two patinated metal pulls with side lopers flanking one long drawer with patinated Chippendale style backplates and swan neck pulls, over central door opening to interior storage space, flanked by two vertical horizontal drawers, raised on two short front cabriole legs each heavily carved with Rococo c-scrolls, acanthus leaves, and a central carved Green Man face terminating in heavily carved and kuckled lion's paw front feet, and ring and baluster turned back legs. Approximate height 60.5", width 39.75", depth 18".
