- Lot Description
English, mid 19th century. A late Regency period mahogany writing desk, with an inset tooled red leather top, with a reeded edge, on rounded and tapering reeded legs. Apparently unmarked. Approximate height 28", width 46.25", depth 28".
Condition
Desk has possibly been refinished. Scattered scratches and stains to leather top, commensurate with age and usage. Evidence of lifting and bubbling to veneer. Also areas of repair to veneer. Interior has been refinished. Brasses on drawers have been replaced. Brass collars at top of legs appear to be original. Brass caps to feet are missing.
