- Lot Description
English, Late 18th C. English George III mahogany chest on chest, the upper case with molded cornice and three short over three graduated drawers, all beaded and flanked by fluted chamfered corners, the base with three beaded graduated deep drawers on stylized bracket feet. Height 72", width 44.5", depth 20.5".
Condition
Replaced pulls and escutcheons and refinishing resulting in darkened shadows of prior hardware (see image 4). There are scattered areas of cracking and missing veneer. There is horizontal cracking along the fluted pilasters. The top drawer in bottom case is missing a section of beading. Staining on the front of the case appears to be refinishing drips. There have been a couple of repairs to the upper case side on right. Separation in drawers, commensurate with age. Drawer runners have been replaced.
