English, 18th century. Chippendale style walnut chest, the rectangular top inlaid and cross banded over three short drawers and three graduated drawers, all cross banded with decorative escutcheons flanked by batwing pulls and raised on bracket feet. Height 37.5", width 40", depth 21.25".
The top has a horizontal crack, shrinkage, some lifting and scratches (see image #7). The top left drawer is missing the locking mechanism. There is lifting of veneer on drawer faces (see image #3). There is some chipping to wood (see image #8). Shrinkage in drawers. The pulls and escutcheons have been replaced with patches to the drawer faces (see image #4 & #5). Some drawer blocks replaced.
