English, 18th century. Chippendale mahogany wall mirror with shaped scrolled frame accented with pierced gilt plume at center within circular medallion , gilt undulating border surrounding looking glass, parcel gilt trailing leaves and rosettes on sides, back with evidence of chip carving and with applied papers (one with text, the other with engraving of two putti on an urn with leaved swag). Overall measures approximately 36.5" x 19".
Top outer scrolls with split repairs, visible under black light. Losses to gilt and wood on pierced leaf tips. Right side of frame at middle with indentation dent with later finish. Light separation to lower right corner. Light wear to gilt throughout. Some other scattered areas with minor repair to finish. Looking glass a later replacement and not original. No other signs of damage, loss or repair.
