English, circa 1775. English Chippendale mahogany bachelor's chest of drawers with cross banded and thumb molded top over a pull out slide and four graduated drawers, each beaded with individual locking mechanisms and bail handles, raised on bracket feet. Approximate height 32.75", width 33", depth 21.5". Provenance: From the Estate of Henry G. Muecke Jr., Atlanta, Georgia.
Chest is structurally sound. Top exhibits a chip at front right corner. Top exhibits slight minor abrasions. Pull-out writing surface exhibits fading from sun exposure. Front right side has a repair, and some veneer loss visible beneath it. Second to last drawer exhibits prior worming, no longer active. Some losses to beading on drawers. There is minor cracking to base at front right corner. All locking mechanisms are present however they appear to not be original to piece. Bail handles have been replaced. Bracket feet do not appear to have been reduced.
