English, 20th century. A George III style carved mahogany and upholstered settee sofa, in the Chinese Chippendale taste having a camelback with scrolled, padded sides, the facings carved with rosettes, leafy foliage and trailing bellflowers enclosing the rectangular overstuffed cushion raised on blindfret carved legs having diaper lattice panels united by a gothic pierced stretcher and terminating in Marlborough feet. The whole covered in a silk damask style fabric with two bolsters and one rectangular pillow, all three having fringed tassels. Approximate height 35.25", width 79", seat depth 21.5", seat height 20".
Structurally sound and overall very good condition. Minor chips to carved floral elements on legs and feet, not obvious nor distracting (see image #4 & #6). Repair to right arm at curve just below the rosette. Fabric is tight to the frame and very clean. There are no rips, stains or odors noted.
