- Lot Description
English, late 19th/early 20th century. Georgian style walnut veneer brass bound lap desk having hinged top centered with vacant brass inscription plate opening to a fitted interior with both sides hosting gilt tooled leather writing slope with storage beneath, compartmentalized storage for writing utensils and inkwells in lower front section of box, raised on a later stand. Approximate height 24.5", width 20.25", depth 11".
Condition
Minor wear commensurate with age and use. Some cracking to veneer. Top is warped and bows very slightly in center. Some surface scratching overall. No apparent losses to brass inlay - some tarnishing. Interior slant desk does not close properly - hinges/closures do not close all of the way. Leather is broken in middle. Scratches to leather. Interior lids fall into compartments. No breaks.
