Stevens & Williams (English, 1847-1930), last quarter 19th century. A fine English emerald green cut to clear Gorham sterling silver mounted bottle or decanter, the silver knob shaped hinged lid with floral repousse collar hung with chain and joined to applied glass on rotund body, the stick neck and body in emerald green and cut clear with stylized flowering branches. The base with polished pontil and a slight hint of cranberry color. Sterling hallmarked for Gorham (indicative hallmark for last quarter 19th century), also stamped Sterling and the number 49. Approximate height 9.25".
Glass does not appear to be cloudy or 'sick'. Hinge to the stopper is in good working condition. Stopper opens and closes smoothly. Silver is in good condition with minimal oxidation and minor pitting. Illegible marks under lid, also hallmarked for Gorham along with the number 49. No chips, cracks or any damage noted. Minor scratches to the underside base, commensurate with age and contact with surface.
