English, 19th Century. Fine and unusual Edwardian Sheraton Revival style mahogany and polychrome-painted Carlton House desk, the curving superstructure with low shaped pierced decorative brass gallery centered with a painted musical trophy above 6 short drawers with floral swag decoration, and a central door with classical portrait medallion between a pair of concave cupboard doors decorated with swag and urn, the sliding leather mounted writing surface flanked by hinged letter boxes of serpentine form and decorated with playful putti figures over the apron having a long central drawer flanked to each side by 2 drawers, all with painted floral swag decoration, the back fully decorated with garlands of floral swags, centered to the top with a medallion figure emblematic of summer over the case with an oval painted still life of fruit, each side further decorated with musical cherubs within a simulated fan medallion. The case raised on cabriole legs painted at the knee with urn medallion and trailing husks and terminating on drake feet. Height 39.75", width 50.5", depth 26.75".
