- Lot Description
Charles and Ray Eames (American, 1907-1978; 1912-1988) for Herman Miller (American, Zeeland, MI, 1923-), circa 1950-56. A "RAR" chair (Rocking Armchair Rod Base), having a molded beige fiberglass seat resting on a steel Eiffel base with wooden glides. With red rectangular Venice manufacturer's label to underside, indicating production between 1950-56. Approximate height 27", width 25", seat depth 18", seat to floor 16".
Condition
Wear commensurate with age and use. Shell with expected scratching and smudging. Has yellowed with age. Staining overall, including brown spotting (foxing) and dark staining (mildewing), presumably from water exposure. Gliders are stained from water exposure and are lighter from loss of stain. Could benefit from professional cleaning.
