- Lot Description
Edward Benjamin Herberte (1857-1893). "Readying For the Fox Hunt" - 1880, oil on canvas, signed and dated lower left "E.B. Herbert". Painting depicts a group of four distinguished Englishmen on horseback approaching a field beyond a fence where a large group of fox hunters waits for the hunt to begin. Label on verso from Sotheby's New York, an old gallery or museum label, and a torn page with biographical information on the artist. Framed 21" x 25", unframed 14.25" x 18.25".
Condition
Painting has been relined. Examined under black light and no signs of in-painting or retouches. No other signs of damage, loss or repair.
