Dempster Mill Manufacturing Company (American (Beatrice, Nebraska), founded 1878-1960. Cast iron windmill weight with black patinated finish depicting a standing horse with short bob tail in profile, body with pierced hole, "58C" on body. Weight later converted into an electrified lamp with two light sockets at top on a thin tubular shaft terminating on a reclaimed wood plinth with horse weight accent at center. Overall approximate height, width, depth . Provenance: From the Estate of Dr. Woody and Mrs. Honor Cobbs, Atlanta, Georgia.
Overall good condition. Some corrosion, rust and oxidation as would be expected with age and exposure to elements. Horse is free of any wires or mounts relating to the later lamp. Horse has not been removed from wood base nor do we know how horse was mounted into the base. We believe horse can be removed from base.
