Continental, Early 20th century. Gilt metal basket form box with ribboned bow at top of diaper patterned pierced rounded handle above clear glass basket with chamfered corners, hinged lids with star motif above container with hand painted enamel miniature portrait of a young woman in profile, raised metal floral garlands accented with diminutive porcelain flowers, and raised shield medallion, additional applied porcelain florals on honeycomb pierced border at top of glass. Unmarked. Approximate height 7", width 5", depth 3.75".
Small crack to the gilt metal ribbon. Lid is missing four porcelain flowers (see image #2). Lid is not closing fully on either side (see image #4 and image #5). Handle has pulled away from the mount on one side. Missing porcelain flowers on all four sides. Traces of glue residue from the filigree and porcelain flowers on the sides. Oxidation and loss of gilt metal finish, scattered. Metal banding around base is lifting and old glue is cracking.
