- Lot Description
American, Contemporary. Modern mixed media artwork on canvas vertically aligned and inspired by number of popular culture references including comics, Pablo Picasso's renderings of bulls, scientific technical drawings, Pop Art and the work of artists such as Roy Lichtenstein and graffiti street art. Work with floating U shaped magnets, text such as "KOTA", "ZAPP!", 'BEAU", "ROSE", and others, a child's play cube in primary colors with references to the element hydrogen, birds, owls, a grisaille portrayal of an ear, and more in brightly colored palette and media on canvas laid down on foam board. Possibly signed "Beau Cope NY" lower right--inscription could just be a decorative element. Unframed approximately 56.75" x 24.5".
Condition
Work appears to be cut down. Remnants of deliberate holes on sides (likely to join or mount to other panels). Slight fraying to edges and discoloration--not particularly distracting. Canvas laid down on foam board. Hole or abrasion at top center with discoloration in brownish hue.
