- Lot Description
Continental School, first half 20th century. "Portrait of Long Haired Man", oil on artists board, indistinguishably inscribed lower right. Likely Spanish School small painting depicting a young, stern man at shoulder length, his long, dark, slightly wild hair parted over one eye above furrowed brow, intense eyes, a strong nose, and full lips, the man wearing a white shirt under black coat. Framed behind glass approximately 15.625" x 13.625", unframed approximately 9.875" x 7.875".
Condition
Discoloration to back of artist's board commensurate with age of work. Small pinhole in upper left corner near edge. Wear to work from rubbing on frame. Under black light examination, little to no areas of in-painting or retouching. Paint layer stable without signs of lifting. Work may benefit from light cleaning some dirt evident in lower left area. No signs of rips or tears.
