Conrad Kiesel (American/German,1846-1921), "Manuela with Cockatoo Birds", oil on canvas, signed lower right. Figural painting depicting a young seated woman, Manuela in an outdoor garden setting with carved stone wall. Young beauty with long dark curled hair pulled back and wearing pink patterned dress with white top. One white cockatoo flies overhead, the other perches on edge of copper container enjoying a drink of water beside a tall blue ewer vessel, draped pink cloth, and vegetables (corn, eggplant, etc.) in lower left corner. Unframed approximately 20" x 14".
Oxidation to back of canvas commensurate with age of work. Wear to edges (likely from rubbing on frame), light scattered craquelure most apparent in woman's face and background, however not visually distracting. Paint layer stable. Under black light examination, light greenish hue from varnish coat, may brighten with professional cleaning. Little scattered retouches throughout not highly noticeable, including black dot above signature. No signs of rips, tears or holes. Very good condition overall.
