French, 19th century. Louis XVI style gilt bronze cartel clock with handled urn at top with artichoke finial and laurel banding above shaped case with scrolling, drop bellflowers, laurel swags, pierced and rosette accented lattice work, with hinged glazed cover protecting white enameled dial with blue Roman numerals and Arabic numbers (for minutes) marked with "COMPTOIR GENERAL" at top and "9. Bo POISSONNIERE". Movement stamped with "49886". Accompanied with key for winding. Approximate height 21", width 11.25", depth 5". Provenance: From a Private Collection in Decatur, Georgia.
