German, first half of 20th century. Group of six unmatched and various tankards or beer steins comprising of Paul Klutsch, Coblenz one liter tankard wih hand painted figural scenes on exterior of sailors commemorating the crew of the S.M. Torpedoboot (S.M. Torpdbt G. 192) 1911-1914 with hinged pewter lid with naval motif and winged bird on hinge, marked on bottom with manufacturer; two half liter cut glass (one hand embellished with paint) tankards or beer steins with hinged pewter lids (one with acanthus leaf and harp, the other with gadrooned border); two molded glass and pewter tankards with engraved inscriptions (one reads "Skat Club W. Tauschnvitz 31.3.26" on pewter mount above honeycombed exterior, the other with figural scene on edge of top with men in tavern and children playing by fence line outside surrounded by inscription); and a porcelain handled stein (without lid) hand painted with Tyrolean figures dancing in tavern, unmarked. Height of Paul Klutsch tankard approximately 11.75". Height of Skat Club glass and pewter beer stein 4.9".
The naval stein has missing finial and lid doesn't fit tightly. Minor and scattered flecks of missing paint. No other damage or repairs to stein. Stein with harp has possible straw mark on handle. Also with extensive wear to base, commensurate with age. Stein with hand embellishments has minute scattered flea bites to mouth and typical scratches to base, all commensurate with age. Honeycombed stein with tight fracture to interior of base and interior fracture on foot. Stein with figural scene has repaired handle at base. Handle also with prior damage, however, it appears to be ground down (no sharp edges). Also with numerous chips to base. Porcelain stein with minor scattered areas of wear to painted finish.
