Chinese, 19th/20th century. Group of two silk embroidery textile panels in matching black and parcel gilt accented frames with Asian motif comprising of one with feathered cranes at top in clouds above stylized pine trees leading to large prunus or peach fruit flanked by bamboo stalks and leaves above flowering branches and blue rocky outcroppings, bottom with more birds balancing on one foot above flower sand stylized clouds or water on light blue to cream colored silk ground, utilizing the forbidden stitch; and another with courtly women in long robes in interior and garden amid flowers, bamboo growth, brown birds perched in trees, rocks, and water on light blue ground. Peach and crane work framed approximately 20.2" x 7.8". Figural work with courtly women framed approximately 20.4" x 6.7". Provenance: From the Estate of Dr. Woody and Mrs. Honor Cobbs, Atlanta, Georgia.
Not examined out of the frame. Each panel with overall discoloration/toning commensurate with age. Some areas of silk deterioration also commensurate with age. No apparent threading loss.
