Continental, early 20th century. An iron mounted cast stone garden gazebo or tempietto comprising scrolling cast iron dome over laurel garland frieze terminating in heraldic shield forms over each of the five tapering columns with Ionic capitals and plain turned bases raised on rectangular block plinths decorated in relief with ribbon bows and fruit and connected by four curving benches. Approximate height 116", diameter 79". Provenance: From the Estate of Dr. Woody Cobbs and Mrs. Honor Cobbs, Atlanta, Georgia. Note: this gazebo remains in situ in Druid Hills, Atlanta, Georgia.
Gazebo can be disassembled--separates into several different pieces. Would not compromise integrity of piece. Structurally sound. Weathered patina, including lichen & moss growth throughout, commensurate with age & outdoor use. Scrolled iron dome with rust & oxidation throughout, originally painted white with weathered paint losses. No overt cracks or significant losses. Minor scattered small losses to vulnerable areas, also commensurate with age & outdoor exposure.
