Clare Leighton (American, 1899-1989), "Fishing in the Creek"-1952, wood engraving, pencil signed lower right margin, limited edition noted in pencil "17/150" beside title. Work depicting five men wearing caps, jackets and long pants around a creek with stylized leaf-bare trees fishing from the banks. Framed approximately 15.4" x 12.9". Sight size approximately 7.5" x 5.25". Provenance: From the Private Collection of Benno & Babette Rothschild, Columbus, Georgia.
Print joined to mat board at top with hinging tape. Light even toning to sheet. Light discoloration on back not visible from front of work. Wear to corners commensurate with light handling, folded corner in lower right. Uneven edge at left and bottom--possibly cut down. No signs of rips, tears, holes, losses or further damage. Frame with no signs of damage, loss or repair--excellent condition overall.
