- Lot Description
Abdur Rahman Chughtai (Pakistani, 1894-1975), "Untitled (Woman with Parrot)" watercolor and ink on paper, signed lower left in red. Original figural mixed media on paper depicting a standing young woman in green tunic holding a bird in hand raised near cheek on an elevated platform with open bird cage, woman near platform's edge at left. Framed approximately 32.25" x 27.25". Sight size approximately 23" x 18". Provenance: Sold by Arif Rahman Chughtai (the artist's son and director of Chughtai Museum in Lehore, Pakistan to the Former United States Ambassador to Pakistan, Mr. Benjamin Oehlert, Atlanta, Georgia thence by descent to his family. We are thankful to Mr. Arif Rahman Chughtai for endorsing these works.
Condition
Item not laid down and joined to mat board with hinging tape at top. Remnants of older hinging tape on back. Light even toning to sheet. Darkening to edges. No signs of rips, tears, holes, water damage or foxing. Very good to excellent condition overall.
