Abdur Rahman Chughtai (Pakistani,1897-1975), "Village Girl (Village Maiden)", drypoint etching and aquatint, pencil signed lower left, pencil titled lower right. Figural print depicting a young beautiful woman in ornate dress standing outside amid bare stylized trees on stone ground marked with flowers. Framed approximately 26" x 17.9". Sight size approximately 14.5" x 10.25". Provenance: Sold by Arif Rahman Chughtai (the artist's son and director of Chughtai Museum in Lehore, Pakistan to the Former United States Ambassador to Pakistan, Mr. Benjamin Oehlert, Atlanta, Georgia thence by descent to his family. We are thankful to Mr. Arif Rahman Chughtai for endorsing these works.
Print has been laid down on masonite board. Edges appear to have been cut down as edges are uneven. Light even toning to sheet. Foxing, dirt and discoloration throughout margins--not interfering with image. Darkening to lower right corner from paper repair with slight abrasions No signs of rips, tears, holes or severe water damage.
