- Lot Description
Abdur Rahman Chughtai (Pakistani, 1894-1975), "Two Sisters", watercolor and ink on paper, signed lower left in red. Modern figural painting depicting two young Mughal princesses in ornate dress and gold jewelry admiring a circular compact with makeup in an interior. Framed approximately 32.25" x 27.25". Sight size approximately 23" x 18". Provenance: Sold by Arif Rahman Chughtai (the artist's son and director of Chughtai Museum in Lehore, Pakistan to the Former United States Ambassador to Pakistan, Mr. Benjamin Oehlert, Atlanta, Georgia thence by descent to his family. We are thankful to Mr. Arif Rahman Chughtai for endorsing these works.
Condition
Item not laid down and joined to mat board with hinging tape at top. Remnants of older hinging tape on back. Light even toning to sheet. Minor evidence of mat burn. Darkening to edges. No signs of rips, tears, holes, water damage or foxing. Very good to excellent condition overall.
