Abdur Rahman Chughtai (Pakistani, 1894-1975), "Untitled (Young Woman)", graphite pencil sketch on paper, pencil signed at right. Modern figural sketch depicting a young woman standing wearing veil and holding string with two round discs beside a small pointed window with vase on ledge. Framed approximately 28.4" x 23". Sight size approximately 19.75" x 14.125". Provenance: Sold by Arif Rahman Chughtai (the artist's son and director of Chughtai Museum in Lehore, Pakistan to the Former United States Ambassador to Pakistan, Mr. Benjamin Oehlert, Atlanta, Georgia thence by descent to his family. Item not laid down and joined to mat board with hinging tape at top. Light even toning to sheet. Top verso of sheet with two remnants of hinging tape. Two oval shaped areas visible on front and back with lighter coloration. No signs of rips, tears, holes or water damage.
