Continental, 20th century, possibly earlier. A Louis XV style chinoiserie and gilt bronze mounted two door bombe cabinet or meuble d'appui having a serpentine pineapple onyx marble stepped top over a conforming case with two doors enclosing a shelved interior, the front and sides polychrome decorated in coromandel style with scenes of figures in various pursuits, some on horseback, some on the ground fighting, another figure fishing, all amidst trees, pagoda, temples and mountains. The serpentine scrolled apron painted with floral sprays. The angles with gilt bronze mounts and raised on splayed legs ending in sabots. Approximate height 34.6", width 56.5", depth 22".
Structurally sound. Marble top with chip and loss back left edge corner. Top Right side back with crack and repair. Repair to both front doors under each top hinge. Left repair with some loss to finish; not distracting. Right door on interior top by hinge with minor lifting. Locking mechanism does not appear to function. No key is present. Interior left door bottom with broken leather strap (to connect to interior left to prevent door from opening too far). Right door interior bottom missing screws and leather strap. Scattered small chips and nicks particularly to legs and apron with some loss. Some areas with dulling to finish.
