Chinese, likely 19th century, possibly earlier. Scroll painting on silk depicting two small white and blue feathered bird with black head and red eye perched in branch amid a lush tree with green leaves and pink lychee fruit. Black calligraphic writing at middle left above red seal mark (according to text: Song Dynasty--13th century (1295-1297). Scroll measures approximately 97.5" x 27.5". Scroll handle measures approximate length 31.5". Provenance: From the Estate of Dr. T. Elder Pearce in Ellijay, Georgia.
Scattered spotting and staining to silk. Creases and thinning of silk in some areas. Light wear to paint, however paint layer stable. Minor splits predominately on left side with earlier repairs. Small minor holes to cream colored support.
